Burbank CPA Musings: IRS.gov kicks off tax season and offers Obamacare advice

Well, the day is here!  The IRS is starting to accept tax returns for processing, both individual and businesses.  Also they are giving advice on the new forms that need to be filed to cooperate with the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare for short), mainly the 8965 and 8962.  See this article in the Christian Science Monitor by Kevin Drawbaugh of Reuters for more details:

If you received a health insurance subsidy through one of the exchanges, you will also be receiving a form 1095-A from the exchange by early February (obviously you have to wait for this form before filing your taxes this year, just like you have to wait for 1099s and W2s.)  But tax season is starting on time – let’s have a party!  You can get more information through the IRS’ website, www.irs.gov.
