3%? 4%? 5%? How much to take for retirement

This article in USA Today by John Waggoner explores how much you should actually take annually from your retirement accounts to live on:

My feeling on this is to look at the net increase of your plans from last year, divide by 12 and take that amount monthly.  If you want to shift some of your money to private annuities then do so and allocate the difference. Then at least you won’t outlive your money!
