Apparently last minute filings on April 15 have overwhelmed the IRS and its ability to acknowledge the return filings (what a shame!) See this article in AccountingToday by Michael Cohn for some more details:

This also affects a lot of state returns that piggyback on the federal efiles, so hopefully this will resolve itself soon.
