This is a good one! The IRS creates the “Where’s my Refund” link on their website; now they tell people not to use it! Actually it appears that people are checking the site so frequently it is overloading it. See this in Accounting Today by Michael Cohn for more tips and details:

Actually the IRS is right: check the site in the evening and know that it probably won’t change until the next day. If you check too often you will overload the system and cause the government problems. (No one wants to cause the IRS problems, do they?)
