Do you have a single person LLC registered in California? If so, while you still treat the LLC as a schedule C independent contractor if is a business and you are self employed or as a schedule E rental if you have a rental property on your personal tax return, you still have to file form 568 with the Franchise Tax Board and fill out the single personal LLC area on the form (Oh and remember that you owe at least $800 for the honor of having an LLC in California.) Brian’s Tax Musings – Corporate Extensions
Remember if you have a corporation, the due date is March 15 (next Thursday, a week from today). If you can’t get it done, estimate your taxes due (if any) and file the corporate extension form 7004. If you have kids and didn’t earn a whole lot last year you may qualify for the earned income credit. It is refundable and could get you some money back.
