Everyone has heard the term “Triple Witching Hour” in regard to the stock market.  What is it?  On the third friday of March, June, September and December Stock Index Futures, Stock Index Options and Stock Options all expire on the same day – these are Triple Witching Days.  The last hour the stock market is open on these days is the “Triple Witching Hour” and with Traders finalizing options trades and set up new options positions the volatility is extreme.Sometimes fortunes are made and lost in Triple WItching Days and Hours.  Stick to your investing plan and don’t worry adout this crazy time (unless you are a trader, then have fun!)

Brian’s Tax Musings

Well there is talk of extending California sales tax to services.  It is interesting that the people hardest hit will be the poor and small businesses, the people the state supposedly wants to help the most.  See this article:http://jan.ocregister.com/2011/10/07/sales-tax-on-services-could-raise-8-7-billion/66833/The last couple of times this type of proposal was brought up, it met with stiff opposition.  Hopefully it will  again.
