Here is some April 1st history and why it began being called “April Fools Day.” Look at the article below in About.com by Mary Bellis and see how the Pope ended up causing one group of people in play jokes on another group: http://inventors.about.com/od/articlesandresources/a/April_Fools.htm So anyway, have a great first day of April and keep your eyes open; you never know when you will get a pie in the face! CPA General Musings in Burbank: Would LeBron James Succeed as a CPA?
Ok, time to lighten up this tax season a little – how do you think basketball great LeBron James would fare if he had to be an accountant and tax preparer. As someone who played in basketball city leagues in Burbank for 35 years (until I couldn’t guard anyone), I would be interested to see if King James would be as good on a spreadsheet or preparing a 1040 as he is throwing down a windmill dunk or kissing it off the glass? Adam Blitz speculates on this in AccountingToday: http://www.accountingtoday.com/news/would-lebron-james-succeed-as-a-cpa-70139-1.html I personally think Lebron would be great at whatever he does (but in my opinion, Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul would be a little bit better because Lebron is too nice a guy and would give his guys time off while Kobe and Chris would work their guys for 24 hours straight) but all three have the mental fortitude to get through things fine (Kobe might be a little rough on his customers, but they will thank him in the end when he saves them taxes.) General Musings of a Burbank CPA: I am now taking VISA and Mastercard!
Ok, everyone, come on in and get your taxes and tax planning done! I am now officially taking VISA and Mastercard if you prefer to pay your bill that way. I actually started this process nine months ago, but because of other issues it took me some time to get it up and running. A big shout-out to Josh Stancle at Infinity Financial Source, my merchant service company. If you are thinking about adding credit cards or maybe changing who handles your processing (Josh got me a great rate), it is worth talking to his group – here is a link to his website: http://process2save.com/ So far the process has been simple and seamless (I am going through the internet login as it is easier than card swiping etc. for me) and people are actually starting to use it, which is always great!
