Guess what? The Governor of California can’t get a increase through the state legislature, so he is trying to get us to vote it in! I read an article the other day that Congress is supposedly getting serious about trying to adopt a flat tax – valued added tax similar to what Herman Cain (the 9-9-9 man) has been proposing. Apparently they have gotten together a 40 page report about such a tax and are soon going to try to get it to the floor (House or Senate – who knows?) I will believe it when I see it – they can’t even pass a payroll tax reduction they all want.. You can count on us to count for you!

If you have a single person LLC, the IRS has decided you can now pay salary to your kids under 18 and not owe any withholding or unemployment taxes and not owe any unemployment taxes on salary paid to your spouse. This is a radical change from the last 3 years. It is for payroll paid after Novemeber 1, 2011 but is retroactive for payroll paid back to January 1, 2009 and expires on October 31, 2014 (Happy Halloween!)
