Here is something that hasn’t been talked about much recently; a leveraged buyout of a big public company to take it private. Dell has plans on the books to do just that right now. Its founder is on board and it has support and financing from Microsoft and Silver Lake, a private equity firm. See this article in CFO (from the Economist) for more details on this deal:

This could mean that companies with large backers might try to take themselves private in the future. Well, we will see what develops.
