There may actually be a small bright side to the Target client hacking in that now everyone will hopefully be more dilligent about their credit and debit cards. The most important part of protecting yourself is being dilligent when using either debit or credit cards. When using the ATM, cover up the keyboard when typing in pin numbers and be sure to keep credit card slips (the full account number doesn’t get put on the receipt but other inportant info is there.) It is also good to check your accounts online if you have access and always look through your credit card and bank statments for unusual transactions. If there is anything weird, call your bank or credit card company.
