See this article in Bloomberg Businessweek by Karen Weise about the fact that quite a few people (including the borrowers) don’t know as much as they should about Student Loans and other college debt:

I am sure that there is more information available on these loans than it appears from the obvious lack of knowledge people confess to in the post; people are not doing the research, or the counseling available is pretty lacking or not very understandable. People need to know what they are getting into before getting into it!
