The IRS Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC) is reporting to Congress that the IRS work more closely with preparers on compliance with electronic tax administration issues. See this article in AccountingToday by Jeff Stimpson:

It looks like with preparer help it will make the Service more able to respond to information requests and streamline paper flow in both directions, which will get things done a lot faster, which is always good news.
