FYI, the sales tax rate in Los Angeles County, California increased by 0.25% due to the passage of Measure H, which will raise revenue for homeless services and prevention programs throughout the county. This will bring the rate in unincorporated Los Angeles County and incorporated cities lacking a district tax to 9.5%. See the California State Board of Equalization for a list of affected cities. The Los Angeles County rate increase also affects the following cities (listed with new rates): Avalon: 10% Commerce: 10% Culver City: 10% Downey: 10% El Monte: 10% Inglewood: 10% San Fernando: 10% South El Monte: 10% Rates in Compton, La Mirada, Long Beach, Lynwood, Pico Rivera, Santa Monica, and South Gate, which are also in Los Angeles County, will not increase because they are already at the maximum combined district rate of 10.25%. In the event a local tax in any of these cities expires or is repealed, the 0.25% rate increase imposed by Measure H will kick in. Measure H is set to expire Sept. 30, 2027.
